Realtors bag 2008 PBA All-Filipino trophy

Sta. Lucia Realtors - PBA

This just in: The Sta. Lucia Realtors‘ 15-year oddysey has come to fruition, as the green-clad basketball warriors finally win their first PBA Championship ever.

It was a bittersweet victory for the Realtors, as their opponent Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants put much of a challenge by managing to tie the Best-of-Seven Series at three games apiece. But they made the ultimate statement by defending their 100-88 victory in Game 7.

I posted this because I feel happy for the team. Why won’t I? They have never tasted gold since they joined the league in 1993, and this year is a real big break for them, especially for Dennis Espino, who was handed the Most Valuable Player award. I wonder how the team captain feels after waiting for so long to win the championship, and with it, the title of MVP?

Boy, I could still remember Kenneth Duremdes and Jun Limpot playing for the Realtors, but they both never tasted a championship with them. The same goes for their current head coach Boyet Fernandez; he also never tasted gold while playing for them, but he made up for lost time as he just became Sta. Lucia’s first-ever coach to win their first-ever championship.

They were awarded the Jun Bernardino Trophy (formerly the Perpetual Trophy), named in memory of the PBA’s late Commissioner. They were all-smiles as Fernandez and assistant coach Adonis Tierra were handed the trophy.

I’m not that much of a PBA fan nowadays, but I did watch it way back when Bal David and Vince Hizon were still playing for Barangay Ginebra Kings (then Ginebra Gin Kings). But it doesn’t have anything to do with this news, does it?

Once again, congratulations to Sta. Lucia Realtors, your 2007-08 Smart-PBA Philippine Cup champions!

I’m pretty sure it’s in the front page of the papers right now.

This isn’t related to anime, J-music or anything, but I’m pretty sure that this news is SUGOI.

Sushi Boi is the sugoi power behind the scenes. Do not mess with him or face his wrath. But he is really really nice, promise.
